What is an MRI?

MRI stands for magnetic resonance imaging.  It is a non invasive procedure that can take pictures of the inside of your body.  This type of scan does not use radiation like other radiological testing such as xrays.  Instead, it uses a powerful magnet and radio waves that bounce off the different types of tissues generating images.  This allows the radiologist to determine the difference between a healthy tissue and an unhealthy tissue.
