A cardiac CT scan is a non-invasive, safe and painless test that helps physicians diagnose the amount of plaque or calcium build up in your cardio-vascular system. Unlike a cardiac catherization, a CT scan uses special x-ray equipment to look at your system. It can help detect coronary artery disease (CAD) at an early stage when there are no symptoms. Once your calcium score has been calculated, your physician will have the ability to determine whether you are at high or low risk of cardiovascular disease. Your physician will address any questions or concerns you may have. The test will take between 15 and 30 minutes. There is no preparation required for this cardiac CT scan. Please remember a healthy heart is a happy heart. |
