Computed Tomography (CT) Scanning

What is a CT?

CT exams are non-invasive and completely painless. You will lie on a padded table, which will move into the scanner until the area under study is properly aligned. The CT technologist will provide you with specific instructions for your particular examination. For example, you may be asked to hold your breath during portions of the scan to prevent blurring of the image, or you may be given an injection of a contrast agent in a liquid that makes specific structures stand out more clearly on the images. In any case, you can be sure that you are receiving the very finest diagnostic services available.

Who Will Perform the CT Exam?

A Mid Hudson Medical Group Computed Tomography Technologist who is certified by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiological Technologist) performs all exams.

What are the Preparations for a CT Exam?

Your pre-exam preparation will depend upon the type of exam your doctor has requested. Some studies may require fasting prior to the exam, or you may be asked to change into a patient gown or remove all jewelry. Other studies may not require any special preparation.

Be sure to ask your physician about any special instructions he or she may have. Your cooperation can have a great impact on the success of your exam. Please feel free to give us a call if you have any questions.

When Will My Physician Know the CT Results?

Upon completion of the exam, a Board Certified Radiologist will interpret the procedure and a report will be sent to your physician without 48 hours.
